What’s New in the Updated Mojo 2

Headphones.com ask for a review of my purchase of a Chord Electronics Mojo 2 Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier (4.4mm). To be fair I need to give a two part review. Outstanding for headphones.com and mixed for the Mojo 2. Part 1: Headphones.com was amazing. They were surprisingly proactive when I asked for expedited shipping. I initially ordered a Mojo 2 from Amazon and they sent the old version (no 4.4mm jack). With a long trip coming I wanted the new version ASAP and headphones.com came through. It was in my hands in a few days. Part 2: The Mojo 2 (both versions) Five stars for sound and features. 1 star for USB. 5 stars after you fix it yourself. The Mojo 2 2026 4.4mm is sonically unbeatable. The FPGA DAC, lossless 4-band PEQ, crossfeed, and 600mW of clean power make my 64 Audio U12t (from Headphones.com) sound better than any portable I’ve tried. There’s arguably no real competitor if transparency + DSP is your goal. The built in battery and compact size make it ideal for travel. The problem: A known USB-C bug causes full-scale white noise blasts 5 to 30 minutes into listening. With IEMs, that’s about 130dB+ into your ear. It’s a known Cmedia chip bug. Terrifying every time. Happened consistently with my iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th generation (older) USB-C to USB-C cable, never with my iPhone 14 (Lightning). It was consistent with both the older Mojo Amazon sent and with the newer 4.4mm version. The fix: Use Apple’s A1632 USB-C (male) to USB-A (female) adapter to a “certain” USB-A (male) to C(male) data cable. I say certain because it was trial and error until I tried a 15” cable that came with a Fenix flashlight. 100% reliable for a month now. I just got an iPhone 17 and so far, a simple C to C cord has worked but I keep my A1632 combo close. My message to Chord: Just include a reliable cable combination and instructions with your unit. Stop making customers solve this for you. Endgame: my goal has been achieved. 100% satisfied with headphones.com. My Chord/Mojo 2 inflicted pain has been user-solved (with hours of AI research). I’m keeping both of my Headphones.com purchases, the Mojo 2 and the Audio 64 U12t IEMs.

It's a revealing DAC, superior to my much-loved Audioquest Turquoise. Hint: before serious listening, make sure the volume, crossfeed, and EQ control settings are where you want them to be. I've encountered an example where the crossfeed and EQ weren't zeroed out as I received it. And do negotiate the 'volume'/ output so it works best with your preamp input. Dial it in and it could be a revelation.

Quite enjoy this little guy. Was a little concerned with navigating the color buttons, but this quickly becomes second nature. Was also a little concerned with the EQ limitations, but for simple adjustments like a base shelf (which covers 90% of what I need anyway), it's quite easy and painless, and I'm LOVING hardware EQ vs software EQ. The dual 3.5mm isn't a limitation in my mind since I don't do IEMs and there's more than enough power to drive anything I have, plus it's cool to share audio with kids/spouse. Love the way this feels, sounds great, excellent battery life. No complaints. Been listening with the following: Focal Clear OG DCA Noire X Sennheiser 620S Arya Stealth FT1

I recently changed from a desktop computer to a Laptop for my computer needs. I wanted a one box solution for my music listening. The Mojo2 was a perfect solution. While on the desk I can power it for unlimited use. It is also portable if I am on the couch lounging surfing the web. The sound is very crisp and clear. I like the resolution results it will decode any format effortlessly. It is very cool to see the data resolution indicator change from song to song. A perfect solution for the minimalist desktop I was going for.

I can’t really add any new information here that hasn’t already been covered so well in all the other reviews. But I will say I absolutely love this little device: it’s perfect for my use case, which is to listen to music on my iPhone while I work or relax. The build quality is impeccable, as is the sound quality. The only downside of the latter is that it reveals all too clearly any imperfections in the source material! I’m currently using the Mojo through Sennheiser HD 660S2 headphones. With most classical or acoustic music, the default flat EQ is perfect. But for other types that ask for more bass the my ‘phones provide, I’m easily able to compensate with the Mojo’s EQ controls; contrary to some reviews, it was pretty easy to get used to them. I can’t recommend this more highly.

This little thing packs a punch. I'm moving up from a Schitt Modius/Magnius, and although those were good, the Mojo 2 is better in every appreciable way. Timbre is significantly improved across the entire frequency range. There's slightly more texture and impact in the mid-bass and low bass. The upper-mids and highs really shine on this thing. There's a beautiful sense of spaciousness and detail that never becomes overly etched or harsh. All of this comes through a more open, layered, and defined soundstage. I'll not a fan of the aesthetics but it delivers everywhere else. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love this little unit! Got a great price from Headphones.com too. Sound quality far outperforms my expectations, despite having purchased based on a series of reviews. I’ve been running an audio engine D1 with a tube amp to get a richer / fuller sound through my Focal Clears. Based on living with this unit for a few days I’ve now returned the tube amp - get as rich a sound through the Mojo 2. 5 stars easy

I've been looking for a Dac that will bring my Focal Clear headphones to life. I have found it in the Chord Mojo2 . The incredible musicality of this device is just wonderful to listen to. If you want to really experience the power of Qobuz or Tidal streaming music this is the one purchase that will make the music sound like you never experienced before. I think this is worth the higher price and it is in a category of its own. If you are on the fence about the Mojo2, just pull the trigger and make the commitment to an outstanding musical upgrade that will deliver the true sound you are looking for.

I've been using the original Mojo for the past few years, and I was interested in the new Mojo 2, but I didn't really understand what an upgrade it is. Wow. I am very impressed by the sound, and especially the new bass and treble boost functions. With the Moondrop Blessing 3 being a little light on the low end, boosting it with the Mojo 2 makes a very nice improvement to the bass. Plus, it has a USB-C input, which means I can plug directly into my new iPhone 15. Highly recommended.

I bought the Focal Celestee headphone and when it arrived I connected it to my computer. The experience was incredible, as the headphone is very good, and I even forgot about the Mojo 2. When I connected it, it was surprising. Songs that I've been listening to for years and that were incredible with the headphones, became different (and much better) with the Mojo. It was like rediscovering the same music and now being able to feel every tone, every note and every instrument. I have 2 other DACs but the Mojo was far superior. Super satisfied.

My Mojo 2 was shipped really fast. I love how natural and real it sounds. You have to hear it to understand how it does things differently with Rob Watts' magic FPGA sauce. I don't recommend it if you are looking for a particular sound signature. I di recommend it if you want more realism and emotionality from your music. It sounds impressive and the built-in amp is very strong, but this thing is for people wanting to move on to the next level of musical enjoyment that is separate from a particular DAC/amp characteristic. It'll probably sound boring or sterile to you if what you're looking for is satisfaction by a specific presentation. This is neutral neutral. Whatever is in the recording, pretty or ugly, that's what you'll get, and you'll notice it. Nothing else. The Mojo 2 will satisfy you if you want more dimensionality and feeling in the present moment. With acoustic intruments, you'll notice a lot of nuances you probably missed with other DACs. With vocals, you just don't hear the voice of the person, but you sense the person's presence as their voice was recorded. You'll notice the air between the microphone and the mouth in a way relatable to reality. Stuff that can't be perceived with other DACs starts presenting themselves unexpectedly. This ain't no snake oil. In terms of use, disregard people saying the lights are confusing. The menu is not deep, so you'll be able to learn the order of things easily without needing to memorize them. If you graduated elementary school, your brain is more than capable enough to learn what the lights mean. The Mojo 2 is very satisfying to use. I promise you. Just a few light sequences to learn. You can learn them in 5 minutes once you relate the colors to the functions. Don't let anyone on the Internet steer you away from the Mojo 2. If you wanna rediscover your music in a way I cannot explain to you, spend the money and get ready to cry to your favorite tunes in a new way. I'm using mine with my iPhone 14 Pro Max and the bigger camera connection adapter that has a USB-A female plug and a Lightning plug. I connect the Mojo 2 and turn it on, and it instantly takes over the sound output. Finally, it's very small and portable. Looks so much bigger in pictures. You'll go, "That's it?", but believe it that it's worth the price. You can't find that technology outside of Chord. This is my first Headphones.com purchase, not counting the Focal Clear pre-order I've yet to receive in the next months, and it won't be my last. I will be buying a lot of stuff from them, because first impression was excellent. I hope this review helps you! PEACE! 😌 These guys know how to run a business!

The sound is just wonderful. This is my second mojo I also loved the sound of the mojo1, the problem is the poly I can not get it to work with the mojo2 it was problematic with mojo1 as well. There is another problem that is also a safety issue. For whatever reason connecting directly to, my iPhone and iPad Pro occasionally produces a sound that is painful and can damage your hearing. There are others on YouTube that mention this problem. I have a large investment in my music, 3000 CD’s and use Roon. You can imagine my disappointment in not being able to using this good sounding unit to the full.
