Description

Ocean is 64 Audio’s new flagship universal IEM, bringing together the company’s latest driver, acoustic, and tuning technologies in a six-driver, four-way design built around one idea: full-range realism without giving up musicality.

Its hybrid architecture combines a pair of custom dynamic drivers in a cone-to-cone isobaric configuration for the lows, two balanced armatures for the midrange, a dedicated high-mid balanced armature, and a tia™ high driver. The result is what 64 Audio describes as a dynamically neutral presentation, with powerful but controlled bass, a rich and present midrange, natural upper mids, expansive imaging, and effortless high-frequency extension.

Ocean is also one of the most configurable IEMs 64 Audio has produced. Its Passive Acoustic Control system combines interchangeable tia screens, back-vent filters, and Apex modules to create as many as 32 acoustic configurations. That gives listeners meaningful control over treble damping, bass behavior, isolation, pressure relief, and the overall presentation without relying on DSP or electronic EQ.

A Six-Driver Flagship Built as One System

Ocean uses six drivers, but the more important number is four. Its four-way acoustic architecture assigns each section of the frequency range to a purpose-built driver group rather than asking one type of transducer to do everything.

At the bottom are two custom dynamic drivers operating in a cone-to-cone isobaric arrangement. The midrange is handled by two balanced armatures, with another dedicated BA covering the high-mid region where vocals, instruments, and much of our perception of tonal realism take shape. A tia high driver completes the system at the top.

The goal is cohesion rather than simply maximizing driver count. Ocean is designed to preserve separation and spatial definition while still presenting music as a unified whole, giving complex recordings room to expand without pulling individual elements apart unnaturally.

Cone-to-Cone Isobaric Dynamic Bass

Ocean’s low-frequency system uses two dynamic drivers arranged cone-to-cone as an isobaric pair. The configuration is designed to produce deep, powerful bass while maintaining the speed and control expected from a reference-level IEM.

64 Audio describes the resulting low end as exceptionally clean, and that distinction matters. Ocean is built to provide real bass extension and physical authority without allowing the lows to obscure the midrange or compromise spatial information.

The pneumatic loading of the dynamic-driver system can also be altered through Ocean’s interchangeable rear vent filters, making bass behavior part of the IEM’s broader Passive Acoustic Control system rather than a fixed design choice.

Rich Mids and Natural Upper-Mid Presence

Four of Ocean’s six drivers are dedicated to the frequencies above the bass system, allowing 64 Audio to carefully shape the regions most responsible for vocal tone, instrumental texture, presence, and spatial realism.

Two balanced armatures handle the primary midrange, while a separate high-mid BA bridges the transition into the tia treble system. tia High Driver with a Refined Meta-Material Waveguide

Ocean continues one of 64 Audio’s defining technologies with a dedicated tia high-frequency driver and tubeless single-bore acoustic architecture. By reducing the conventional tubing and damping structures between the driver and the ear, tia is designed to minimize unwanted resonance while allowing high frequencies to arrive with greater openness and immediacy.

For Ocean, 64 Audio further refines the tia waveguide with a recently patented meta-material. This acoustic structure is used as an additive tuning mechanism, shaping the upper frequencies while preserving the natural openness of the tia driver.

The intended result is treble that sounds extended and revealing without becoming forced: high-frequency detail with a lifelike, effortless character that integrates naturally with the rest of the spectrum.

Passive Acoustic Control: 32 Ways to Tune Ocean

Ocean goes considerably further than interchangeable pressure-relief modules alone. Its Passive Acoustic Control system gives the listener three separate mechanical ways to alter the IEM’s acoustic behavior.

Two interchangeable stainless-steel tia screens adjust high-frequency damping. Four back-vent filters change the pneumatic loading of the isobaric dynamic-driver system. Four Apex modules — m20, m15, m12, and mX — alter venting and isolation.

Together, those components provide as many as 32 possible combinations. Instead of offering a simple bass switch or two fixed signatures, Ocean lets listeners experiment with different relationships between low-frequency behavior, treble energy, isolation, pressure relief, and perceived spaciousness.

Apex Pressure Relief and Adjustable Isolation

64 Audio’s patented Air Pressure Exchange, or Apex, technology vents pneumatic pressure that would otherwise build inside a sealed ear canal. Reducing that pressure is designed to improve long-term listening comfort while contributing to the spacious presentation for which 64 Audio’s IEMs are known.

Ocean includes all four Apex modules: m20, m15, m12, and mX. Depending on the module installed, rated isolation ranges from approximately -10dB to -20dB.

Because Apex is integrated into Ocean’s broader tuning system, changing modules affects more than isolation alone. It provides another way to alter how physically sealed, spacious, and acoustically loaded the IEM feels.

Wide, Separated, but Still Cohesive

Ocean is designed around a wide soundstage, strong image separation, and full-range clarity. Those qualities are especially important in a six-driver design, where technical separation can become less convincing if the individual frequency bands do not integrate properly.

64 Audio’s objective is to give instruments their own clearly defined positions while maintaining the continuity of a real performance. Champagne Copper Aluminum Construction

Ocean is housed in a T6061 aluminum shell finished in Champagne Copper, with a machined faceplate inspired by aeolian ripples — the wave-like geological patterns formed in sediment by moving wind.

The design is deliberately restrained for a modern flagship. Instead of relying on elaborate decorative materials or highly ornate faceplates, 64 Audio uses machining, texture, proportion, and finish to give Ocean its identity. The rippled faceplate provides visual depth while maintaining the clean industrial aesthetic associated with the brand.

Two Shielded UP-OCC Cables Included

Ocean includes dedicated cables for both standard single-ended and balanced systems, so there is no need to choose a termination at purchase or immediately add an aftermarket cable.

Both cables use four-core, cross-braided 24 AWG Litz construction made from silver-plated UP-OCC single-crystal copper, with 99 strands per core and a total specified impedance of just 0.29Ω. The shielding is designed to reduce interference while maintaining transparent signal transmission.

A 3.5mm terminated cable is included for conventional single-ended sources, along with a 4.4mm balanced cable for compatible DAPs, DAC/amps, and desktop headphone systems. Both connect to Ocean through standard 0.78mm 2-pin connectors.
