Description
Greater nuance, better speed and a more open stage
Sumiko Olympia sits above Rainier in the latest Oyster lineup and brings meaningful improvements in clarity, nuance and frequency extension. An upgraded cantilever assembly reduces moving mass, which helps the stylus trace grooves with more agility and precision. A small drop in output lowers the already quiet noise floor, improving stereo imaging and helping Olympia present music with a realism that stands out at this price.
The sound is more articulate and more open than Rainier, with better control through the midrange and smoother, more extended highs. It stays musical and forgiving but offers a noticeable increase in refinement for systems that can reveal the difference.
Part of the latest Oyster series
Rainier, Olympia and Moonstone are the newest additions to the Oyster line and were created to enhance the long standing character of these cartridges. Their housings are designed to disperse resonance before it reaches the generator, which lifts transparency and builds a quieter backdrop for vocals and instruments. The voicing stays natural and easy to enjoy, with a level of nuance and spatial clarity that is reminiscent of moving coil designs.
Flexible upgrade path
The Rainier, Olympia and Moonstone families share the same cartridge body, which allows all three styli to be used interchangeably. You can begin with Olympia and move up later by installing a Moonstone stylus or keep a Rainier stylus as a secondary option for worn or older records. This approach lowers long term cost and makes it easy to tailor your sound.
