Description
Open-box items in C condition are open box items that are not in like-new condition. They may show signs of wear, have packaging that is imperfect and be missing accessories. Clearance items are sold as is without a warranty guarantee and no returns.
The Audio-Technica ATH-A1000Z is a closed-back headphone made for listeners who want high resolution without giving up isolation or low-frequency weight. Its 53mm dynamic drivers are hand assembled with carefully selected magnetic and conductive materials, giving the ATH-A1000Z the speed and clarity to follow fine detail across vocals, acoustic instruments, electronic music, and large-scale arrangements.
Aluminum housings, magnesium alloy baffles, and Audio-Technica’s Double Air Damping System provide a rigid, well-controlled acoustic platform. The result is a spacious and articulate presentation with deep bass, clean transient response, and the privacy of a full-size closed-back design.
Hand-Assembled 53mm Dynamic Drivers
The ATH-A1000Z uses newly developed 53mm dynamic drivers designed for wide-bandwidth, high-resolution playback. Each driver is assembled with an OFC-7N bobbin-wound voice coil, using extremely high-purity copper to transmit the incoming signal efficiently.
A pure iron yoke strengthens the magnetic circuit and helps the diaphragm react quickly to changes in the music. Percussion arrives with a clean leading edge, bass notes retain their shape, and layered recordings remain easier to follow when several instruments are playing at once.
Controlled Airflow and Precise Diaphragm Movement
The driver’s printed circuit board is mounted above the diaphragm rather than directly behind it. This arrangement creates a smoother internal airflow path, allowing the diaphragm to move with less obstruction and greater consistency.
That attention to airflow supports the ATH-A1000Z’s extended frequency response and refined transient behavior. Small shifts in tone, room ambience, and the decay of instruments come through clearly without sacrificing the body and impact expected from a large dynamic driver.
Double Air Damping System
Audio-Technica’s Double Air Damping System uses separate internal air chambers to manage driver movement at low frequencies. By controlling pressure behind the diaphragm, D.A.D.S. gives the ATH-A1000Z bass that reaches deep while remaining defined and naturally integrated with the midrange.
The system adds weight to drums, bass guitar, and electronic low frequencies without turning the presentation loose or overly resonant. The closed-back housings and well-sealed earpads reinforce that extension while providing useful isolation from the surrounding room.
Aluminum Housings and Magnesium Baffles
The earcups are formed from high-rigidity aluminum, creating a stable enclosure around the driver. Inside, a lightweight magnesium alloy baffle further limits unwanted vibration and provides a firm mounting surface for the acoustic assembly.
Reducing resonance in the housing helps keep the character of the enclosure from bleeding into the recording. Voices and instruments retain clearer outlines, while bass remains controlled even at higher playback levels.
3D Wing Support and Long-Session Comfort
Audio-Technica’s 3D wing support system automatically adjusts to the shape of the listener’s head. The lightweight structure avoids a conventional padded headband pressing directly across the crown, while the large circumaural earpads distribute pressure around the ears.
Stitched ergonomic cushions create a close seal for stronger isolation and bass consistency. At approximately 265g without the cable, the ATH-A1000Z remains unusually light for a full-size headphone with large metal housings.
High-Purity Fixed Cable
A fixed 3-meter dual-sided cable uses four OFC-6N conductors and an elastomer sheath. The separate conductor layout supports clear left and right channel transmission, while the generous length suits desktop headphone amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and dedicated listening systems.
The cable terminates in a gold-plated 3.5mm stereo plug. A matching 6.3mm adapter is included for use with full-size home audio and professional headphone outputs.
