SEM2 is an interchangeable all-in-one DAC and amplifier module designed for the SE180 digital audio player. Developed to offer a distinct sonic character compared to the bundled module, SEM2 allows users to shape the sound of their SE180 while maintaining reference-grade performance and flexibility.

Built around a dual AK4497EQ DAC architecture and next-generation amplifier design, SEM2 supports high-resolution playback up to 32bit / 768kHz PCM and native DSD512. The module is engineered with physical circuit separation to minimize noise and preserve signal integrity.

Sound and use case

SEM2 is engineered to deliver a clean, controlled, and high-resolution sound signature with extremely low noise and distortion. The dual DAC configuration and fully redesigned amplifier stage work together to provide accurate detail retrieval, stable imaging, and consistent performance across both balanced and unbalanced outputs.

By physically isolating the DAC and amplifier circuitry from the SE180 main body, SEM2 prevents power and RF interference from affecting playback. Balanced and unbalanced circuits are fully separated per channel, allowing the module to deliver optimal performance with a wide range of headphones and IEMs.
